Individual Therapy

What Is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore problematic sexual behaviours, heal from betrayal trauma, and address the relational challenges that can arise.

Acting out partner:

Problematic sexual behaviours such as secret or excessive pornography use, hidden online profiles, or engaging with sex workers can lead to significant distress, shame, and a sense of disconnection, especially when your true desire is to stop. In our work together, we explore the underlying factors contributing to these behaviours, including your personal history and the core beliefs you hold about yourself, others, and the world. We focus on developing healthier coping strategies to replace patterns that no longer serve you, supporting lasting change and helping you move toward a more integrated and authentic version of yourself.

Betrayed partner:

Discovering a partner’s hidden sexual behaviours can be deeply destabilizing. You may feel overwhelmed and confused, perhaps finding it difficult to sleep, eat, or concentrate on everyday tasks. In therapy, we focus on helping you make sense of what you’re experiencing, define and uphold healthy boundaries, and clarify your needs and values. Together, we work toward restoring a sense of stability, control, and personal agency in your life.

An integrated approach to healing:

My practice is built on an integrated treatment model that combines individual therapy with group therapy. For clients seeking treatment for compulsive sexual behaviours or betrayal trauma, participation in both is considered an essential part of the therapeutic process.

Individual therapy provides personalized assessment, treatment planning, and opportunities to explore your unique history, relationships, and recovery goals. Group therapy complements this work by offering accountability, support, and the opportunity to practice honesty, vulnerability, and healthy connection in a safe, confidential environment.

Recovery from compulsive sexual behaviours and betrayal trauma rarely happens in isolation. While individual therapy helps you understand the “why” behind your struggles, group therapy helps you experience the relational healing that supports lasting change.

For this reason, clients entering treatment should expect to participate in both individual sessions and an ongoing therapy group as part of their treatment plan. This integrated approach provides the greatest opportunity for sustainable recovery and long-term growth.

If you have questions about whether this model is the right fit for you, we can discuss your individual needs during your initial consultation.

Cost: $140/session

Therapy is most effective when it becomes a consistent part of your life. To support continuity, clients are scheduled for recurring appointments every two weeks at a pre-arranged day and time. This standing appointment is reserved exclusively for you throughout your treatment.

A consistent schedule helps build momentum, strengthens accountability, and creates the stability needed for meaningful and lasting change. Rather than booking appointments one at a time, you’ll know exactly when your next session is, allowing you to plan ahead and prioritize your recovery.

If scheduling changes become necessary, we’ll work together to find another regular appointment time that supports your ongoing treatment.

Other Services

Couple Therapy

The discovery of problematic sexual behaviour or sexual betrayal can leave both partners feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and uncertain about the future of their relationship. Couples therapy provides a safe and structured space to begin the process of healing together.

Our work focuses on helping couples understand the impact of betrayal, rebuild emotional safety, strengthen communication, and restore trust over time. The partner who has engaged in problematic sexual behaviour is supported in developing honesty, accountability, and lasting recovery, while the betrayed partner receives validation, support, and guidance in navigating the effects of betrayal trauma.

Couples therapy is most effective when each partner is also engaged in their own healing. For this reason, couples work is often integrated with individual therapy and, where appropriate, group therapy to support lasting recovery and relational restoration.

While every relationship is unique, healing is possible. With commitment, honesty, and the right support, couples can move beyond crisis toward deeper connection, renewed trust, and a healthier future together.

Group Therapy

Recovery is strengthened in community. Group therapy provides a safe, confidential environment where individuals can share honestly, receive encouragement, and learn from others who understand the challenges of living with secrecy, shame, compulsive behaviours, and betrayal.

Through guided discussion, practical exercises, and mutual accountability, group members develop healthier coping strategies, strengthen emotional resilience, and discover they are not alone in their journey. As trust grows, so does the confidence to live with greater authenticity and integrity.

Group therapy is an integral part of the treatment process, and ongoing participation is expected throughout your course of care. To foster trust, safety, and meaningful connection, groups are closed once they begin and membership remains consistent. Because enrollment is limited, each participant benefits from a stable community that encourages accountability, vulnerability, and lasting recovery.
